So... this is my version of a Hermit's shack.

I'm just going to sit here and get drunk and post things I find interesting and talk to myself...

Maybe this is experimental art.

It is like Facebook, without affirmation from people who I don't really care what they think of me, anyhow.

I hear the sysop is on his second Boddington's Cream Ale and in a totally DGAF mood. I double dog fuckin' dare ya to! :D

By the way, I must have blocked two dozen people on Facebook and Reddit today - just for disagreeing with OTHER people on conversations I wasn't even involved in. It is SO much fun. I highly recommend it.

For bonus points, I figured out how to game the system. Find someone like this, post a message that just walks the line that insults them, get them to cross the line, then instantly report them and block them.

They can't report you back - they're blocked, and they get a ban. Muwahaha!

Also, after you block them, carry on conversations with other people, vote them down, so they can see SOMEONE is still talking, they'll know it is you, they'll infer what you're saying about them, but they can't actually do anything.

We've got to start gaming the system to just make these people lose their fucking minds - figure out how to exploit the rules at Facebook and Twitter to troll them to the point of madness, while making them, and the Corporate censors, impotent to do anything to stop it.

Total disruption by exploiting their own systems against them. Imagine if 100,000 of us did this to 24 of them every day... where ONLY liberals were getting banned, and they had no recourse at all against the people they knew were doing it. They would figure it out, but what could they do?
It would be a beautiful thing.

Yeah, I've been reporting lefties for doing things that will get righties blocked.  Nothing happens of course, but it's fun to use up facebook's resources and prove how hypocritical they are.

Yeah, that is fun - but I think I next leveled it. I've been doing the Dan Crenshaw thing, where I've been winning over SOME liberals with kindness and compromise - for example, pointing out that if we are going to block QAnon we should be blocking the Russian Collusion hoaxers too, and that if we should be doing that, we should have been blocking the Birthers during Obama. It is hard for a REASONABLE Lefty to argue with that logic - because you make them see how evenly applying it reveals our own hypocrisies about when WE care about it and when we don't.  It leaves them stuck in one of those classic, "Which button do I press" meme situations.

But while doing that - I've been picking out the more hostile, less reasonable ones, and baiting them until they flagrantly violate the ToS - saying something like, "Continue to choke on a bag of GOP dicks..." but I'm careful to pick people I can see are VERY hostile and reactionary and I'm VERY careful about how I light their fuse so I'm not violating any policies.

Then, I carpet bomb them with an instant block and report, but I keep talking about them - while they can't actually see or report MY posts.

And I know they're on the other side losing their fuckin' mind. And then I sleep like a baby.

I have such a low alcohol tolerance ... I am what some might refer to as "a cheap date".

Halfway down a single G&T on an empty stomach and I'm already tipsy.

I managed to get absolutely curbed last night off of 5 beers. Granted, a couple of them were tall - but usually I have a much higher tolerance. And I feel like poo today - and that hardly ever happens too.

I almost never drink anymore.  About 1997 a co-worker turned me on to Unibroue beers.  Well one beer, I started trying the rest.    La Fin Du Moinde, (The end of the world) 9% alcohol was my first of this brewery's beers.  I have enjoyed several of their beers.

I was drinking Kilt Lifters - they're about 7% - so, they *will* knock you on your ass. But again - I've got a pretty high tolerance.

But I've been drinking more hard alcohol, but less of it, lately. I haven't done a 5 Kilt Lifter evening in - since I can't remember how long.

So, you like my stories?

So... true story. Shortly after 2003, when the dot.com economy crashed, we had just done a major remodel on my house in Land Park, and Courtney was born - I lost my job at Intel. I couldn't find a job anywhere, and because of ego, I turned down a job at NCR that paid too little that the NCR engineer worked HARD to get me. I was young and dumb. We had two BMWs and a Discovery at the time and a beautiful house in Land Park. Within 6 months, I was applying - and being turned down, for delivery jobs at Round Table Pizza. My sister
Dyanne Greenhagen
was slipping me $20 bills every couple of weeks so I could take my kid out to McDonalds.
On my birthday, my wife got me corner seats to a Kings/Lakers game at Arco arena, a limo, and dinner at the Broiler on K Street. It was a luxury we really couldn't afford.
I went with my nephew, Kelly Kiser. We had a couple of great steaks, a bottle of wine, a couple of cocktails, then left to head to the arena.
Outside, a dude pushing a shopping cart came up and asked me for spare change. I was literally broke. Beyond broke - I was in debt on credit cards at huge interest I had no hope of EVER paying off. There was no light at the end of that tunnel for me.
I asked him how much money he had on him. He went through his pockets and told me he had like - 3 bucks to his name. I told him if I made half a million bucks I'd still be at least $3 poorer than he was - that a limo was going to come pick me up in about 5 minutes and take me to choice seats at the Kings game - and that I had nothing to offer him but a cigarette. He took the cigarette and said, "if you're telling the truth, I'm going to laugh my ass off and point at you as you drive off."
We smoked our cigarettes together, the limo rolled up, my nephew and I got in it, and the homeless guy laughed and pointed at me and yelled, "thanks for the smoke. You gonna be all right!"
Just down the street we ran into
Tony Lovato
and picked him up and took him to the game with us. He ended up almost getting us all kicked out for heckling Mike Bibby. He kept calling him a "runt" the entire game. Dude is 6'2". But he looks SHORT on an NBA court. The Ref cautioned Tony like 3 times before he had security come up and tell us, "If you keep talking shit, we're going to toss you."
It isn't the things you get...

It is the experiences.

Oh. I've got another story now.

That guy, by the way, not that it matters - was black. I guess it does matter - because although he was homeless, and broke, and I was a rich guy, he was cool and we shared a good experience with one another, despite our radically different situations in life.

Here is what happened at Vegas. Friday night we arrived, and got blackout drunk, all of us.

Saturday we all woke up wrecked. Wife and I went looking for breakfast, and decided on the Denny's on Freemont. Went, stood in line, and took patio seating.

So, we're sitting there, eating, and this relatively small person comes up, and I can't tell if it is a black woman or black dude. Clearly homeless. They stop, and lean on the iron fence right next to our table, and look at my wife. Just looks at her. Finally she goes, "Yeah?" and he "goes, "I just need a little money. Do you have a little money?"

And she goes, "No, I don't carry any cash."

And he just stands there and stares at her. Kind of between sad and hostilility. I'm not sure what it was. So... finally I kind of go, "Is there a problem here, dude?"

And he goes, "I just need some money."

And I go, "We don't carry any money. She doesn't have any cash, I don't have any cash. You gotta move on..."

So, he walks a little way down, and stops, and continues to stare at her.

After a minute I turn around (now I'm holding the fork in my hand)... "Why you mad doggin' my wife, bro?"

"I'm not mad dogging your wife..."

"Listen, man... you don't want me to have to go get security do you?"

So, he walks off to the street. And we're eating, and I'm like, "Is he gone?" And she is like, "He is way out by the street, but he is still staring at me."

Security is now hip that something is going on... and there are a few other junkies/tweakers all congregating... like... something was up for sure. So, I turn around, and just sit there HELLA mad dogging the dude... until he crossed the street. There he met up with a HUGE black guy. Up until this point... little black guy, I could take... white sketchy tweaker I was a little worried about - he looked like the guy who would stab you... the chick talking to her demons and all of 105 pounds wasn't too much of a worry... but this OTHER guy... yeah - not in my wheel house.

At one point, another white sketchy tweaker is dropping his pants and just flipping off the sky.

And the whole time, sad-eyes Malice is still over there hanging with his huge friend.

So we finished up, I told her - full alert, walk quick, stay in front of me... I've got your back, hit the first gift shop.

We went into a gift shop, I bought a Las Vegas pocket knife. We leave, walking back to the hotel. Sure enough, Sad Eyes is walking down our way, mad-dogging us. I drop the knife out into my hand, blade out, scanning all around. Just seems to be him. He just walks by, glaring at us...

We got to the hotel. Fuck that. I don't mind that shit when I'm with my buddies. But having it be just me and the wife is an entirely different story. You can de-escalate with your bros... but with my wife, I'm going to fucking open the guy's gut up and settle with the cops later. Not exactly how I want to play the odds in Vegas.

What a shit show.

Exactly the right way to handle it.  From what I know about Vegas, here's how it would go down with the cops:

You're a tourist.  The cops won't do shit to you.  You were clearly defending yourself from vagrants. If the local lives, he'll go to jail for starting shit.  The casinos own the cops and don't put up with hassling tourists.  It's bad for business.

Yeah, I hadn't thought of it from that angle. I was thinking more along the lines of...

"What kind of tourist goes and buys a pocket-knife and shanks a hobo? They're all supposed to be fat, sunburned midwesterners that roll over and just pay the Vegas tax when they get hassled by locals."

That was my basic concern. We're supposed to be the sheep fat for the slaughter as tourists when we go to Vegas. This sheep was going to turn the table on the coyote, though. I'm more of a goat - I know how to use my horns, there is other fleece that is softer and easier to shear than mine. ;)

this strikes a memory chord. For the last 15 years my day job sent us to vegas for a week long convention.

Basically it was all about listening to key note speakers, sitting in break out rooms for education sessions in mandalay bay conference rooms, a big ass catered luncheon in the south seas ballroom then done by 5 pm to get totally shitfaced drunk and end up waking up next to another employee and helping her find her dignity and room key. lather, rinse, repeat.

the last time...2019...before covid... I was walking across the bridge to MGM or NY NY (or excalibur, i forget) with a chickie I made nice with during that day at the convention. Ok, so walking on the bridge, Some guy that smelled of popcorn shrimp and ass ran up to me and kept calling me Kevin (kevin is not my name) and said Kevin and a bunch of stuff I didnt understand and then he tried to grab the back of my head and pull it in... so...I tagged him with a haymaker. laid him out. cops were there in no time flat. I told them what happened and what I did. the cop said "I have wanted to do that for the last 6 months. this guy cant keep his hands to himself."

Not really sure what that has to do with vegas but thats the only unfriendly story I remember of the last 15 years of strange.
